The small village of Russbach on Pass Gschütt is located in the Salzburger Land hiking region of Dachstein West and borders directly on the Salzkammergut.
Russbach's Hornbahn cable car takes you conveniently and effortlessly up to the 1.450 m Hornspitz, where a variety of hiking routes (suitable for pushchairs) for the whole family start.

Hiking region Russbach
Once you have reached the top of the Hornspitz, you have a magnificent view of the majestic Dachstein glacier, Gosaukamm ridge and the Tennengebirge mountain range. The slow train "Ameisenexpress" takes you comfortably past cows, horses and lush meadows to the Edtalmhütte 3 km away, where you can re-stock your energy levels with a traditional snack.
In Bruno's mountain world, lots of fun play and learning station invite you to have a adventurous time at the Hornspitz in Dachstein West. Visit Emma, the giant ant, romp around at the bird's nest and in the fossil sandpit and explore Bruno's alpine plant world. In the meantime, parents can relax on the comfortable panoramic loungers.
Quiet easy up the mountain with Hornbahn Russbach
From the centre of Russbach you can reach the Hornbahn Russbach in just six minutes on foot. Directly at the valley station of the Hornbahn Russbach there is a large free car park and a bus stop for the Postbus line 470. The 8-seater cable car in Salzburger Land takes you comfortably up to the Hornspitz at 1,450 m - the perfect starting point for numerous hikes.

Slow train "Ameisenexpress" and alpine flower garden
The slow train "Ameisenexpress" starts at the mountain station of the Hornbahn and takes you in a 20-minute ride to the cosy Edtalmhütte. On the way, you can enjoy the impressive mountain panorama and watch the animals on the alpine pasture. The departure and return times are adapted to the Hornbahn Russbach.

Tip: Russbach Water Park
The Water and Adventure Park in the centre of Russbach offers the necessary cooling down after a strenuous hike.
Kayaking for children, a stream to play at, reservoir, jumping tower, water tower and Kneipp facilities provide undiluted fun in the water for all the family.
The highlight of this area is the natural pool. The summer oasis is naturally cleaned by plants and fed with fresh wild water from the Randobach.
