At the beginning of September, we welcomed four new ropeway technology apprentices (3 for Dachstein West and 1 for Feuerkogel) to Bergbahnen Dachstein Salzkammergut. We were able to accompany the day for you in the media and give you a little insight into what such a welcome day looks like for us.
At 8 o'clock in the morning, everything is ready in Russbach. The site managers of Dachstein West, Philipp and Mario, have organised a breakfast together. Sweet and savoury snacks are ready for the first get-together. Of course, our Managing Director and CEO Rupert Schiefer did not miss the opportunity to personally greet and welcome our new protégés. Strengthened, we then got down to business.
Some necessary theoretical briefings, such as familiarisation with safety regulations, operating rules and employee protection, awaited the new recruits. Our site managers also gave a briefing on PPE and then distributed it.
Are you wondering what PPE is? It's the personal protective equipment that every ropeway technician receives from us. It also includes the safety harness, which can be customised to the respective size. Incidentally, this must be replaced after a maximum of 10 years.
Perfectly equipped and with the theoretical facts in their luggage, the group set off into practice. From Russbach and the Hornbahn cable car, the tour continued to Gosau. After a meet & greet with the office team at the Hornspitzbahn cable car, we continued on to the Gosaukammbahn and the Zwieselalm.
In beautiful mountain weather, we visited the hallowed halls of our technical rooms, at the Gosaunetplatzl site manager Mario explained the surroundings to us and we learnt exciting details about snowmaking & Co.
Over lunch, we shared one or two anecdotes from the early days of the oldies at the table. I smiled as I followed the different characters and generations and was delighted to be able to take part in this exchange.
The last stop of the day takes us to Annaberg, where we can immerse ourselves in the technology of the Donnerkogelbahn and take a look at the piste equipment and maintenance depots.
All in all, it was an exciting start to the new world of work for everyone. We wish our new apprentices many more of these and look forward to the years of training together at Bergbahnen Dachstein Salzkammergut.
